Simply Family Mini Sessions

For the past few years, I’ve had the absolute joy of offering Christmas Card Mini Photo Sessions Simpsonville SC! Held on select Saturdays in October, November, and December, my simply family mini sessions offer clients the opportunity for a quick session perfect for creating either images for your Christmas Card or an updated family portrait to use as Holiday gifts. G Family Christmas Card Mini Photo Sessions Simpsonville SC

The G Family has been a long-time client of Quiet Graces Photography. They became clients when their son Abel was born and have continued to come for simply family mini sessions. I love working with this family because Abel and Sloan are so full of LIFE. At two and four, they are busy.

Sloan obviously likes to pose. She thinks visiting the studio is almost as fun as going to the park. I take this as a compliment! I try really hard to see your kids as little people who are worthy of respect and to play hard with them. I want them to enjoy their time in the studio. I send parents a special preparation guide to help your little one look forward to the time in the studio and know what’s expected of them. Sloan (and her parents!) nail this every time.

But then, of course, there are two-year-old boys. Did Abel receive the same preparation as Sloan? Yes! Was he still wanting to run wild in the studio and ignore everything because he was so overstimulated? Also, yes. And, yet, I found some in-between moments to snap the beautiful portraits you see above. And when I say in-between moments, I mean in-between jumping on the bed and climbing off it or in-between running behind the studio paper and throwing toys. Abel was EVERYWHERE. I warn parents that sometimes you’ll leave the studio feeling like I didn’t get a single good image and then be so pleasantly surprised!

While I love the portrait they chose for their Christmas card (above), I really love the images taken of Whitney and Josh with Sloan and Abel solo. These images show just how much their parents love and adore them.

I have been photographing the H family since Charlotte was born!  Click here to see Charlotte’s Newborn Session. We’ve also done a cake smash and a Gingerbread mini together and each time these kiddos are more fun!

One of the things you should know about me as a photographer is that I tend to ignore parents at the beginning of a mini-session. I prepare you for this and try to answer all of your questions before the session, but I only have 10-15 minutes in a mini-session to get your kiddos to like me and come alive for the camera. So as soon as your kiddos come in, I spend all my energy getting to know them and building a connection with them. Sometimes that means we are running races or dancing or even jumping on the bed.

With the H family, each kiddo is different. James, the oldest, and I talked a bit about school and solved some algebraic equations right on my studio paper. Martin is a complete goofball who I had jumping all over the studio and laughing and all my antics. Charlotte looked at me and told me that she wasn’t in the mood to pose or smile and not in a rude way. Charlotte knows her own mind and I knew respected her wishes by first capturing images of her siblings and having her help with the camera. When you’re three and you see a few images pop up, you naturally want to see yourself on the back of the camera, too. Charlotte clearly joined the fun on her own after that moment of connection with me. We didn’t have to bribe or have a tantrum because she knew I was listening to and respecting her.

Because the H family has worked with me several times, mom and dad trusted my process and the results are fantastic! I even had a moment to capture Corey and Jeb alone while all the kiddos were going nuts either chatting with me or destroying my toy corner.
