2017Each baby that comes to the studio is amazing. Each baby is unique (even the identical twins!) and with their own personality and likes. Some babies don’t like to be unwrapped. Some don’t like me to move their hands. Some want a hand or blanket on their legs while I pose them. Some smile in every set up. Others have grumpy brows. But all of them have a beauty all of their own. I love both parts of my job: showcasing that beauty and encouraging that mamas (and daddies) that created that beauty.
This little girl’s name is Lola. When she was carried into the studio I gasped. This tiny less than 7 pound brunette beauty had the most extraordinary caramel highlights all throughout her hair. I’m not eve sure these images can do the beauty of this feature justice, but look for it in the rest of of her images.
Lola’s mommy Polly said that even all the nurses in the hospital were fussing over her amazing hair. I wonder how long these beautiful highlights will remain.
At the same time, Lola has all these sweet delicate features. Tiny eyelashes, hands, and even those tiny toes peeking through her wrap. Tiny humans are just breathtaking.
And then these tiny humans smile revealing a hidden dimple and bringing joy to anyone who sees it. The wonder of it all… breathtaking.
What if you took just one moment and saw yourself as you were created? The beauty in you is like the beauty in Lola.
Precious, Lola, may you always know your value and beauty that was treasured by your family from the very beginning.
I’d love to serve your family by recording all the beauty that’s already there. Click here to learn more about working with me.

2016Sawyer’s mama contacted me panicked and begging me to take her “older newborn” for photos in Greenville, SC.
Sawyer had arrived a little unexpectedly. Her birth experience had been difficult and had included an extended hospital stay.
When she finally settled in at home and realized she had not booked a newborn photographer she called a few local photographers.
Almost without exception she was told that newborn photos were only done in the first 10 days of life and that she should wait until 6 months to book a session.
Sawyer was just shy of three weeks old.
I was so sad for his mama. Here all she wanted was beautiful images of her sweet little one (asleep or awake) while he was still little and she was being told it wasn’t possible.
Obviously we were able to capture beautiful images of Sawyer even the sleepy and posed images that other photographers said were not possible at his old age.
Photographers: let me take a second to point at you and implore: please take on older newborns. Please take beautiful images of these sweet older newborns. Give up your ideal of sleeping infants in perfectly posed set up and accept the reality of perfectly imperfect art that gives a mama a memory for life. A memory she treasures and wants to pay you for.
And, mamas, if you’re not finding that all the photographers are saying your baby is too old for newborn pictures: contact me. And I will either see if I can fit you in my calendar or refer you to someone willing to create art for you.

2016Stephanie’s sweet mama contacted me after my Down Syndrome Awareness Mini Sessions about having images taken of her sweet girl. With a sweet face like this one, how could I say no?
Her eyelashes (there’s a rumor that I have an obsession with eyelashes. It may or may not be true…) and those tiny little fingers won my heart immediately.
Stephanie has Trisomy 21 which is more commonly known as Down syndrome. However, a diagnosis does not define this little girl. She is a person first and a lovely one at that.
Stephanie’s curiosity and sweet smiles are a joy to her family and were grace to me for such a young little peanut.
Sweet Stephanie, may you grow in grace certain that you were made for a purpose and that you are loved.

2016Meet Ava and Jack. These sweet newborn twins stole my heart.
Ava’s perfect little hair. The way Jack wanted nothing more than to be snuggled right into his sister. Even though I have my own set of twins, I never cease to be amazed by just how close two babies carried together can be. Their bond is nothing short of miraculous.
Ava and Jack arrived a little early (like all twins) and spent a few weeks in the NICU growing and learning to eat. By the time we were able to schedule them in the studio, they were 41 weeks gestation but had arrived many weeks earlier. I bundled them both up like burritos at the beginning of our time together to help them fall fast asleep.
Ava was super relaxed the entire session. Shortly after getting her wrapped up she drifted into a contented sleep.
Jack was most relaxed when he was cuddling Ava. When she wasn’t around he was wide eyed and super curious.
